The Story

During Easter break 2021, QuesTECH Learning Executive Director Donna Underwood viewed a televised news feature about Popcorn for People, a business originated to employ the autistic. Since her grandson was on the spectrum and since 81% of the disabled community nationwide are unemployed, Underwood asked, "Why not start a NELA workplace opportunity for Autism spectrum young people?"

OUR HISTORY

In 1997, founder Alex George established QuesTECH Learning, which began with seven students and four staff members. His vision of a school for students who, for whatever reason, needed a smaller, more nurturing environment has now expanded to 97 students in grades 2nd through 12th with eighteen staff members.

In its 26 year history either in a full time school or tutorial setting, QuesTECH Learning, a non-profit organization, has enabled kindergarten through college students, who may or may not have a formal diagnosis, to achieve success academically and socially.

In 2023, QuesTECH Learning established QuesTECH Spectrum, a silk screening business that is an extension of the school’s mission “ACHIEVING MAXIMUM POTENTIAL . . . BECOMING PRODUCTIVE CITIZENS . . .” QT Spectrum is able to offer autistic young people a workplace experience as they transition to the remainder of their lives.
